Remixed Culture: Banana heels

[Remixed Culture: Banana heels]

I made a new work based on the feedback from the last lecture. Previously, my works produced with TinkerCad felt far from the theme of Remix Culture. I could understand the subject more deeply by looking at other students' works. My colleagues said they liked my 'books with airplanes', but I made a completely new object. The work is a remix of shoes and bananas by adding bananas to women's heels. As the shape of the banana blends into the heel of the shoe, the two completely different objects naturally combine into one. Other students' works greatly influenced my thoughts. The feedback allowed me to broaden my thoughts and decide on a topic in more spectrum.

The term "remix culture" means using two or more existing media to break stereotypes and create more interesting ideas. For example, Mash-up is one of the most common examples of our surrounding media and works. Remix culture also often involves juxtaposition, which refers to the construction of new ideas with completely different objects being used as work. My work made a juxtaposition using women's shoes and bananas. The curves of bananas and the sophisticated lines of shoes go well with each other and relieve the unnatural feeling. The color of the shoes was red, giving a more natural look together. Instead of existing objects, I chose objects that more and created works that fit the themes of 'Remix Culture' and 'Juxtaposition'. It was very interesting to know that using two common media can give a new perspective.
