SURFACE DESIGN STUDY: RESEARCH & DESIGN
[A Piece of Pattern]
Firstly, I had some line works with unique patterns. The most thing I focused on was how they balanced each other. If there are too many line works, it could be a dizzy pattern. At this part, I spent a lot of time at the trim work.
And then, I colored them with the same tone, because it really helps to make a balance.
I choose 'cool tone' colors which were inspired by the weather.
I selected all curves using the 'Edit - Select Objects - Curves' tool, put those lines into the same group, and turn off the lightbox icon to hide them. I am satisfied with this part because all the colors are smoothly balanced as I thought before. (At that time, I changed colors almost 100 times. RIP.)
[Rotate]
Before I rotate the colored pattern, firstly I tried to rotate my linework. It helps to notice any mistakes on linework and if so, it is better to fix them before they are colored.
[3 Colored Patterns (Samples)]
Finally, I rotated from each of the 4 quadrants so I could see which is the most combination.
It was a hard decision between the first one and the second one, but I choose the first one. The only reason I choose was l love the balance of the flowers, and it looks like a windmill.
[Final Selection]
This is my final decision!
I spent half of my time on trim work and another half on color choice. But I think it could be better than this if I fixed the dizzy flower and rectangles. They were a little unbalanced pattern when they were together. When I reached this step, my MacBook was almost to explode with the big sound of a spinning wheel. I think it is better to work with a desktop when I use Rhino.
